History The Plantation Brakkeput Mei Mei dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. The name “Brakke Put” means: a well with brackish water. The plantation was used for raising cattle and growing corn and beans as a food supply for the slaves and cattle. Another part of the plantation’s products such as fruit, meat and dairy, was sold to the town’s people and the crew of the ships docked in the harbor.
